Introduction to Motivational Interviewing (Interactive online training)

Counselors, social workers, and healthcare professionals are invited to join a training in which participants will define MI, explore ambivalence as a barrier to change, examine and practice the spirit of MI and practice core skills of the technique. Expect information exchange, discussion, skills practice and reflection. Mallori DeSalle, an MI trainer and Member of the MI Network of Trainers, will facilitate.

Preventing and Reducing Stigma (Interactive online training)
August 18 ♦ 9:00am-12:00pm ♦ Free ♦ 3 CEU
Individuals with varying levels of knowledge and experience with stigma reduction can benefit from this training. Through presentation, discussion, breakout rooms and real-world application, participants can expect to be able to define stigma and its components, discuss stigma as a multi-dimensional concept, relay barriers of stigma, describe best practices for language, and begin utilizing cross cutting practices for reducing and preventing stigma. Chuck Klevgaard, a nationally recognized expert in substance misuse prevention and public health, will lead this training.

Health Disparities (Online course)

Health disparities refer to differences in health and heath care between groups that are closely linked with social, economic, and/or environmental disadvantage. This course provides information on how to identify vulnerable populations within a community and the factors that contribute to health inequity. Action steps are also shared on how to try to eliminate health disparities to increase everyone’s good health, sense of wellbeing, and personal security.
