Chances are you have one of four possible reasons for completing this module:

    1. You are a leader in an organization considering SBIRT implementation;
    2. You were told to complete this module before your organization begins the process of SBIRT implementation;
    3. You are learning about SBIRT in a class, and this is an assignment; or
    4. You accidentally registered and can’t figure out how to click out of this training.

    Whether you are the chief medical officer in your organization or are new to the field of prevention, everyone who is part of an organization is important to SBIRT implementation success. If you are completing this module before you are in a professional placement, it will offer some insight into the value of each member’s role in the SBIRT implementation process. Ultimately, SBIRT is a process that requires support at all levels of an organization, and as a result, SBIRT cannot be implemented by one person or even one department alone. In a healthcare setting, SBIRT requires a small shift in daily processes, and a significant shift in the culture of care. At the consumer level, it provides an invitation for patients to reconsider how they view substance use in relation to their personal health goals and values.
