Wrap Up
No matter what response you get from your patient/client, it is important to leave them with a sense of your openness, concern and your willingness to meet and work with them in the future.
Try to match your response to the stage your patient/client is in.
For a patient/client who has expressed anger or complacency, a simple "Thank you. Can we talk again?" is appropriate.
If the individual is considering change, summarize what's been said and end with "I would be happy to work with you on your plan."
