Training Details

This training prepares healthcare and behavioral health professionals to provide SBIRT services.

Description: The goal of this training is to prepare a healthcare and behavioral healthcare professional to provide SBIRT services. This includes skill development for each of the phases of the SBIRT process: Screening, Brief Interventions and Referral to Treatment. This 8-hour training is highly interactive and includes clinical practice to improve fidelity for the SBIRT process.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the range of risks associated with alcohol & drug use.
  2. Articulate the rationale behind SBIRT and the role that substance abuse prevention plays in healthcare.
  3. Accurately administer recommended screening tools used in the application of SBIRT.
  4. Delineate criteria for each intervention following the screening process.
  5. Demonstrate best practices in the implementation of a brief intervention using motivational interviewing.
  6. Examine the efficacy and outcomes of SBIRT
